DRAGICA ČADEŽ: STILL LIFE
Exhibition
1 December 2017-15 January 2018
Piran Coastal Galleries, Meduza Gallery, Koper
Clay has been the expressive medium throughout the artistic career of Dragica Čadež. Recently, she has dedicated her endeavours to the investigation of structures and visual effects in ceramics and wood; wood in the form of crates and ceramics as the accompanying drapery with graphic metaphors of today. The spatial setup in the Meduza Gallery illustrates the topical theme of the consumer society and the awareness of the loss of basic values.
In 1963, Dragica Čadež (Ljubljana, 1940) graduated from the department of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana where two years later she also completed post-graduate study of sculpture in the class of Prof. Boris Kalin. She has held exhibitions both locally and abroad since 1965. Her work has won her several acknowledgements and awards, including the Prešeren Fund Award. She is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC/AIC). She lives and works in Ljubljana.
